Lu KEPLER: Where jungle meets canvas …
Lu Kepler, born in 1978 in Czechoslovakia, is an artist currently residing and working in Prague, Czech Republic. Specializing in oil painting, she is best known for her evocative depictions of rainforests and lush vegetation. Her work is characterized by a vibrant palette and a dynamic interplay of light and color, both of which are crucial in conveying the vitality of the natural world. Kepler’s art not only showcases her technical prowess but also engages with themes of ecological preservation and the exuberance of nature’s biodiversity.
The subject matter of Lu Kepler’s paintings primarily centers around rainforests, forests, and exotic landscapes. Her creativity is profoundly influenced by her extensive travels around the globe, where she seeks inspiration from the diverse ecosystems she encounters. Additionally, she finds inspiration in literature and films that explore the allure of jungles, further enriching her artistic vision. With a contemporary romantic attitude, she collects reminiscences from these experiences, which she subsequently brings back to her studio. Each piece serves as a testament to the beauty and complexity of nature, particularly the primordial landscapes of jungles and other remote areas. Through her artwork, Kepler ventures to capture the essence of these environments, conveying their fragility and the necessity of their conservation in the face of increasing environmental challenges.
Throughout her artistic career, Lu Kepler has lived and worked in several countries. Her first solo exhibition took place in Montreal at Galerie Luz in 2016. Her second exhibition was held at Kogan Gallery in Paris in 2019. Kepler continues to explore and expand her artistic boundaries as she delves into the connections between travel, nature, and artistic expression.
